Before you start
- System check: Windows ⁄11 or macOS 10.14+ (assume modern OS). Ensure 2+ GB RAM, 5 GB free disk, and stable internet.
- Account & key: Have your activation code or vendor account credentials ready.
- Backups: Back up important files and close other security apps (uninstall conflicting antivirus).
1. Download & install
- Sign in to the vendor site (or enter your activation page) and download the Internet Security installer for your OS.
- Run the installer (Windows: double-click .exe and choose “Run as administrator”; Mac: open .dmg and run the installer).
- Accept the license and prompts. When asked, enter the activation code or sign in to your account to activate.
- Restart the device if the installer prompts you to.
2. Initial configuration
- Open the Max Secure console. Confirm status shows Protected or equivalent.
- Run a full system scan immediately to catch existing threats.
- Enable automatic updates for virus definitions and program updates.
- Set scheduled scans: full weekly + quick daily (default suggestion: weekly full on low-use hours).
- Turn on real-time protection and automatic quarantining of threats.
3. Configure core features
- Firewall: Set to Automatic/Smart for most users. For advanced control, allow trusted apps and block unknown inbound connections.
- Web/Browser protection: Install browser extensions if offered; enable malicious site blocking, anti-phishing, and safe-search features.
